Ex-England rugby star James Haskell has announced a new career – by signing for MMA promotion Bellator.
Haskell, 34, retired in May after a 17-year career in professional rugby which saw him represent the British and Irish Lions as well being part of two Rugby World Cup squads with England.
And now he will enter the cage competing in the heavyweight division in the Mixed Martial Arts combat sport.
Haskell has been a keen follower of the sport for years, even working as a pundit on MMA TV.
But after spending time training with British fighter Michael “Venom” Page, he has decided to try his luck in one of the toughest divisions.
He is hoping to transfer the skills gained competing at the highest level in rugby to the cage, where his 6ft 4in, 18.5 stone frame will be imposing for his opponents.
The former forward was able to extend his career at the top level in rugby by adopting an ultra-fit workout regime with wife Chloe.
The couple have become well known on the television and celebrity circuit, where Chloe is a highly respected fitness guru.
